A note from my heart

Every other Friday I go and join a group of wonderful women for a time of prayer. Our sole purpose for meeting together is to pray for our nation. We are living in a time of change. I wish I could say that this change is all for the better but I fear that it is not. What have we done to this gift that we've been given? This country was founded on God. Our money still says "In God we Trust" and yet we try and leave Him out of every decision made when He is the One that should be consulted first! I'd love to say this is a new epidemic sweeping our nation, but it's not. Abraham Lincoln was quoted saying
"Intoxicated with unbroken success, we have become too self sufficient to feel the necessity of redeeming and preserving grace, too proud to pray to the God that made us"
The situation may have been different in his time, but the end result was still the same. We as Christians have a responsibility to lift our country up in prayer. There are so many of us nation wide, why are we so silent?
There is a Christian radio station in our area that I listen to on a regular basis. This time of year they play Christmas music and the other day while driving along I heard this song. It's by a group called Casting Crowns, the song is called "While You Were Sleeping". I've posted the Lyrics here.
Oh little town of Bethlehem
Looks like another silent night
Above your deep and dreamless sleep
A giant star lights up the sky
And while you’re lying in the dark
There shines an everlasting light
For the King has left His throne
And is sleeping in a manger tonight, tonight
Oh Bethlehem,
what you have missed while you were sleeping
For God became a man
And stepped into your world today
Oh Bethlehem,
you will go down in history
As a city with no room for its King
While you were sleeping
Oh little town of Jerusalem
Looks like another silent night
The Father gave His only Son
The Way, the Truth, the Life had come
But there was no room for Him
in the world He came to save
Jerusalem,
what you have missed while you were sleeping
The Savior of the world
is dying on your cross today
Jerusalem,
you will go down in history
As a city with no room for its King
While you were sleeping
While you were sleeping
United States of America
Looks like another silent night
As we’re sung to sleep by philosophies
That save the trees and kill the children
And while we’re lying in the dark
There’s a shout heard ‘cross the eastern sky
For the Bridegroom has returned
And has carried His bride away in the night,
in the night
America,
what will we miss while we are sleeping
Will Jesus come again
And leave us slumbering where we lay
America,
will we go down in history
As a nation with no room for its King
Will we be sleeping? Will we be sleeping?
United States of America
Looks like another silent night
This is still a country with a purpose and a calling, I pray that we as a country would remember on whom this place was founded. We serve an awesome God and He is worthy to be praised.
